“Wake up the truck?”

“Daddy’s bicycle awake.”

As Aidan and I lay in his tent on a cushion. “Mommy night night.” A pause as I close my eyes, then “Wake up, wake up, wake up!” he yells and then gives me a kiss.

After I tell him not to touch my glasses for the thousandth time he puts his help on my shoulder and says, “Not bad mommy, not bad.”

I say “No Aidan you are not bad, but you are not allowed to touch mommy’s glasses.”

“Mommy nose glasses on.”

“Yes Aidan, Mommy’s glasses are on my nose.”

“Nose book closed.”

“What?”

I’m So Exited and I Just Can’t Hide It!

***Attention!! Toilet Training News! Graphic, Stop Reading Now If You Have A Weak Stomach Or Don’t Like Toilet Talk! ***

CIMG1064.JPG

Ok, I just have to tell the world. Ok, I know it is just the grandparents that might actually be at all interested in this news. The Boy actually pooped in the toilet today. I was so happy he got three stars. Oh, and a hug and so much praise he was grinning form ear to ear. I was so happy I did a dance for joy!

I think this made up for the 2 times he peed on the bathroom floor. I have to tell you though, I am not entirely sure.

Menu Plan Monday

menu_plan_monday_napa_2.jpg

I have actually planned for the rest of the month, though I will only give you this weeks plan. I actually made a nice week plan with grocery list on the computer that has really helped me to plan. I am very happy to have so much already done so that it isn’t going to be a big chore on Sundays any more. I am also starting to plan for a baking day with Aidan. He is so cute and loves to mix everything. We just have to watch out for his sometimes over-whelming enthusiasm. (I am almost out of salt as a result of his enthusiasm.) So on to the plans.

Monday: Kabobs with rice and vegetables. Bake bread with Aidan.

Tuesday: BBQ Chicken, salad, baked potatoes

Wednesday: Pancakes, Bacon, eggs (Aidan will help with the pancake batter.)

Thursday: Pizza

Friday: Ham with scallop potatoes, (mashed for Anthony), Broccoli

Saturday:Church Dinner at HT

Sunday: Tandoori Chicken Kabobs with Basmati rice and roasted vegetables

Have a wonderful week. Visit the Organizing Junkie for more great menu plan ideas.

Madeline L’Engle 1918-2007

lengle_cp_3545108.jpg

I just found out (after a day of Radio-Silence) that Madeline L’Engle has died. I am more sad than I can say, even though I know that she has lived a long and good life.

I not only loved her time quartet, but I always really felt an affinity toward her other main female characters, especially Vicky Austin. I am sad that there is no chance for her to tell us more of her story, to quietly show us that believing in god does not preclude believing in science. I always wanted to go see Madeline L’Engle’s places; New York, Switzerland; Greece, Portugal, the eastern United States, Venesuala, Antarctica, The Falklands.

Of all the books I own, my Madeline L’Engle Collection is very tired looking and dog-eared. I have lost count of how many times I have re-read all of them. The times when I needed to read about hating my school and not getting along with anyone, I read And Both Were Young or The Time Quintet. When I needed a good cry I read A Ring of Endless Light. When I needed an adventure I read The Arm of the Starfish, or The Young Unicorns, or Dragons in the Waters. That all of her characters stories and lives were intertwined made the reading all that more pleasurable. That I re-read them still and recently bought the first 3 books of the Time Quintet narrated by Madeline L’Engle from Audible (2 days ago in fact) shows the impact they had on me as a child and still do. I am also in the middle of re-reading An Acceptable Time.

If you would like to see some of the articles about her death Gina at AmoXcali is keeping a link list.

Please keep her family in yours prayers.
