Weighing In

I am loving my scale right now and I don’t want to be someone who loves her scale.  I have tried really hard over the last few years to stop worrying about my weight and just relax into the shape I have become.

I have always had a love/hate relationship with my body.  Even when I was a small size I always had curves.  My stomach was not the perfect flat specimen and I have always had the boobs.  I am not sure why I couldn’t be happy with my weight and shape especially looking back at pictures.  I was so small.  How could I have thought that I was chubby?  Why did I think that I needed to lose weight?  It is a question that haunts me sometimes.

In the last month I have dropped (at least according to my scale which may be wildly inaccurate) about 15 pounds.  My engagement ring fits again.  My pants are starting to be looser in the waist.  I know that my thighs are smaller as well.  But if I really think about it I am still not happy with my body.  As hard as I try to be ok with it, I still don’t feel entirely in love with myself.  I know that part of it  is that I still have some post pregnancy issues.  I need to tone up, but that takes work.

Despite it all, even if I lose more weight it will be hard for me to really feel it until I lose the breasts.  I am pretty sure that Quinlan is our last baby.  This means that when he stops nursing (which I don’t anticipate being anytime soon) I will seriously think about getting a reduction.  I always promised myself that when I was finished having babies and feeding them that I was getting them chopped off.  I still seriously think about it. Smaller bras, easier to find, less back pain.  What is the downside?  I guess the surgery, scars, recovery and my husband’s reaction are all things to think about.

I guess when it comes down to it I am still unsure about whether I will do it or not.  At least I know I won’t be making a rash decision soon.

Still Sick But Looking for a Better Title

It has been another slow day at the Floyd household.  Anthony stayed home again because Quinlan didn’t let me sleep at all last night and this fever of mine won’t go away.  It looks like Quinlan’s fever has broken, but Aidan’s has snuck back so we have no idea if Quinlan’s will stay gone.

So what to write about if not the sick thing?  I could talk about some of the books I have been reading, but while I am enjoying them they are a bit more teenaged vampire lit so I am not sure I should admit I am reading them.  I have  also been listening to the latest Dan Brown, and while it is not a literary masterpiece I am enjoying it.  I guess I will have to admit right here and now that I am a pulp fiction reader.  I love me some good old fashioned Harlequins, teen and YA lit, and almost anything that involves a Vampire.

I am also a teen tv show junkie.  I love Gossip Girl, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars.  I  have no idea where I was going with this.  My fevered brain still isn’t working so I think I will leave it at that for tonight. Sorry for the weirdness that is my brain right now.

In Which I Whine About Being Sick

Of course when I decided to write everyday I didn’t think that this cold would knock me for such a loop.   I didn’t sleep well, Quinlan didn’t sleep well, and we both coughed all night.  Aidan woke up at 5:30 am and Quinlan decided it was time to get up. Aidan was convinced to stay in bed with me and went back to sleep.

Thank god Anthony decided to stay home.  I am not sure how I would have coped at all with the two sick boys and feeling like I have been run over by a truck.  Oh and guess what?  Aidan’s preschool called to cancel for Wednesday so they can disinfect the classrooms.  It seems there have been some confirmed cases of the flu.  Just to be clear, I don’t think we have H1N1, but we certainly have a bad cold. Lots of fun in the Floyd household right now.

That is all for now.  We will see what tomorrow brings.

In Which I Write About My Intentions for the Month of November

I am planing to write a blog post every day for the month of November as a part of (unofficially) NaBloPoMo.  I am also planning to write at least one children’s story.  I am still unsure if this will take the form of an “I Can Read” chapter book, or a picture book.  Aidan will be helping me with some ideas and as an audience.

My children’s books will be geared towards a 4-7 audience with lots of adventure that isn’t too scary or too babyish.  According to Aidan my first one should be about a seahorse being chased by a shark.  I think this will be a picture book idea.  I am also thinking about flying work horses, magic forests and perhaps some seafaring adventures.  Who knows what my imagination will  come up with.

So here it goes.  Thirty posts in thirty days.  A children’s picture book and a novel.  Life in the meantime.  Wish me luck.
