Last Night: The Wake Ups, Part 1

Last night started out great. Mom and I went out to dinner and afterward for a tea and it was lovely. We had a great time and a nice chat. It was really nice to just relax and talk and not worry about the time.

When we got home everyone was tired so we got ready for bed. Anthony and I changed Aidan (boy he hates being woken up and put on his back) so he doesn’t get absolutely soaked through by morning. It has been working, and really since diapers were not getting him through the night, it has been worth it. The previous two nights Aidan just went right back to sleep and didn’t wake until morning. Last night not so much. Yes he went back to sleep, but he decided to wake up (well I think a car woke him up in that critical 30-40 minutes after getting back to sleep) and he let us know in no uncertain terms that he didn’t want to be. Another weird fact is that he didn’t want to go back to bed. He would fall asleep on me but would not go back in to his crib with out screaming, that is until he had time with Daddy as well. Sometimes one parental unit is not enough. He went back down for the night after he had his cuddle with Daddy. If that had been all it wouldn’t be too bad, asleep by about midnight we could handle that. But that was not all . . .

erder erder erder er

Aidan has taken to singing aroung the house and in the car. A lot. He knows the usual classics like “Twinkle, Twinkle” “The Wheels on the Bus” “Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes” as well as some less well known ones. He doesn’t always get the words all right but he tries and loves it. His rendition of “Twinkle, Twinkle” goes:

Twinkle, twinkle little stir,

Erder erder erder er ,

Up above the wirld so high

Lik a dimond in the sye

Twinkle, twinkle little stir,

Erder erder erder er.

Or his rendition of Excursion Around the Bay in the grocery store the other day:

Oh me, oh my,

I heard the Ogre cry,

cry cry

HEY!

Or his version of “My Bonnie”

(Mommy or Daddy sings)

My Bonnie lies over the ocean

My Bonnie lies over the sea

My Bonnie lies over the ocean

So bring back my Bonnie to me

(Aidan sings)

Bring Back, Bring Back

to me to me

Bring back bring back

to me to me.

It is quite funny and the “Twinkle, twinkle” get other words in it like “qrstuv, baa baa Sheep.” I am glad to know that he can pick up that they are the same melody. He is also got quite a range and is well on his way to actually being in tune. He certainly has more than the very short range that most children have. I will try to get an audio clip for you sometime this week. It is quite cute and well worth the listen.

Pirate’s Curse Lifted

We, Anthony and I actually made it to a MOVIE, on time and with no worries about the boy.  Aidan didn’t even notice that we left (we did say goodbye but that didn’t seem to matter) and after his show (The Letter Factory) he turned off the TV and told Nana that he wanted to go to bed.  He did get up one, but even with that he was asleep by 7:45 pm.  Wow.

Pirates was a good movie and we thoroughly  enjoyed it.  It was better than the second Pirates and darker than the first, but the best part was that Anthony and I actually got to go out alone.  We did wonder however, how Chris the Brit (as taught to him by Tammy) could fall asleep during it.  Yes it was long but it didn’t feel long.  I am glad we were able to make it to the 7:00 show, 10 would be just too late. 🙂

Anyway, I know this is a short post but with Nana here  we are trying to do some things even though the weather has been crappy.  have fun today everyone!
