Get Rid of BPA Bottles at London Drugs

If you have any BPA bottles lying around you might want to take them to London Drugs. I had heard through another blog (sent to me by my husband) that London drugs was taking back any BPA bottle brands that they sold and giving store credit for them without receipts.

Now since that first post went up where they were able to take back everything that they had that was AVENT including pacifiers and their microwave steamer, London Drugs seems to have put a limit on what you can take back. I was able to bring back 6 AVENT bottles this afternoon and get 56 dollars in store credit. Since I was planning on just throwing the BPA stuff out and restocking for the new babe 56 dollars is nothing to sneeze at. If you have more BPA bottles I suggest taking a friend and getting a few refund cards. I might try another London Drugs as well to see if they will give me credit for the Breast Pump that only works with the AVENT bottles I just got rid of.

Let me know if you find any other stores that are willing to take back the BPA stuff for credit. I still have a bunch to get rid of.

Rockabye in Vancouver

Last night (well Tuesday night now) I was very happy to take a night off Guides and go to a book reading for Rebecca Woolf’s book Rockabye. I had been looking forward to this night for a few weeks, not only because it meant I had another opportunity to meet some bloggers I had been reading for a while. Yes I was looking forward to another night out by myself.

I knew where Sophia Books was because in my ESL teacher days I taught right across the street and would treat myself once a week to browsing either Sophia Books or Ward Music. Now oddly enough this part of town makes a lot of people nervous because of its proximity to the downtown eastside, but for me I was much more comfortable there than leaving the Wet Coast Women dinner a few weeks ago. When I was taking the bus home I needed to walk about 10 blocks to get to the stop and no one bothered me.

The first person I spotted when I was walking toward the bookstore was Kristin Darguzas of Parent Dish, with her son. I knew that she was in Vancouver, but this was the first time I had a chance to meet her in person. I decided not to be shy and introduced myself. She actually recognized me from comments I had made on posts of hers. She even remembered the blog name. I am glad she did because it made feel a little less stalkerish.

Rebecca was very gracious and cute. She spoke well and was lovely to all the people who made it out to see her. I met up with Maryann of Mother-Woman, and Kerry of Crunchy Carpets both Wet Coast Women with me. ( As an aside when Rebecca asked me if I knew Maryann of Mo-Wo and I didn’t realized she was talking about Mother Woman, can you say dumb? Oh well, it was obvious afterwards that I did know her. ) The reading went very well and was engaging. In fact it was kind of like talking frankly with your girlfriends (well with a few men in attendance trying not to cringe while we talked about some of the realities of childbirth) and by the end we were, friends that is.

As I am now becoming incoherent I will post a review of Rebecca’s book sometime tomorrow. I will also cross-post this on the Wet Coast Women site along with my review of Rockabye.

You wouldn’t believe that Rebecca is due a few weeks before me. She looks fantastic.

Melting Hearts

Yesterday I was out for the morning and part of the afternoon at church and the boys stayed home.  Apparently Aidan had a major tantrum, and after being put to bed for a few minutes and continuing the tantrum he finally apologized for hitting Anthony.  After this he was very clingy  and apparently stayed that way for the rest of the morning.

When I got home he came downstairs to greet me and gave me a hug.  He then said “You are very sweet Mommy and beautiful.”  I must admit that I almost cried.  He definitely melted my heart.

12 Weeks

I had my first full doctor’s appointment on Monday for this pregnancy. That is not to say that I haven’t been to the doctor for this pregnancy yet. In the beginning I went and we set up an ultrasound to check up on the baby to make sure things were ok. I also made sure to get weighed so I would have an idea about how much weight I might gain.

I always love a doctor’s appointment that starts with a take off your clothes and put on this flimsy paper gown. Just kidding, (well no not really kidding) it is not so bad but I wish they would put the heat up just a little for patients who are in the flimsy paper gown. So other than the lovely full check up, I also got to hear the baby’s heart beat. Well, it was a little fuzzy, but Dr I. found it easily and said all was great. I also only gained 1.5 pounds in the three months. Yay me!

I am feeling better and some of the early pregnancy symptoms are abating. I am no longer nauseated so often and my breasts are no longer so sore. I am however still really tired and even if the boy is not, I am napping. The only thing that I had really hoped I would not have trouble with this time was my sinuses and lungs. I am coughing constantly and I really hope that the new sinus medication will take care of the problem. I had it much later in the last pregnancy, but with spring in full force my sinuses are killing me.

There are a few things that are different this time, number one being that so far I am not having any really aversions to meat and the only thing I am really craving (well wanting) is a lot of fruit. I am also in Maternity clothes a lot earlier. I am not sure if this is because I am starting off a little bigger than last time, but since I have the clothes to go with that I don’t think so. I think it is more that I have almost no waist any more. I am also feeling a lot more tired now. I am so glad that Aidan goes down for some quiet time because without that nap I am not sure how well I would function.
I want to do a few things differently this time around as well. Mostly that means I am going to try to take some more belly comparison pictures. I have seen a lot of women’s comparison pictures wearing the same outfit and posing in the same place. Since we will be in NS for a month we will need to find a comparable place, but I am sure it will work out.

It seems like a number of bloggers that I read are also pregnant at the same time as I am if a few weeks further along. One of the blogs that I am reading is a Pregnancy Calendar by Amalah. It is interesting to see how other people are taking their second or third pregnancies. Maybe next week I will have my first belly picture.
