I love Guitar Hero (Reprise)

Just when I thought I couldn’t love Guitar Hero any more we got the second bundle from Futureshop in the mail.  We had been thinking that we would just take it back to the store since it was unopened and we had a copy.  Then we thought about getting a second guitar so we could play together.  After a bunch of hemming an hawing we open the second guitar and spent the last three hours playing.  Just so there is no confusion we can’t get a second guitar for the Wii without getting another copy of Guitar Hero. If we could we would have sent the set back to the store in a flash to get another controller.

I think that as fun as having my husband and son telling me that I rock, playing with Anthony is even more fun.  I am also finding that I love playing the bass parts.  A lot of them are much harder than you would think and I am not so bad.  The only problem is almost forgetting to blog and the little fact that I need to be up and out of the house by 8:30 am tomorrow.

Oh, well the post is in and I am off to bed.  Expect a Remembrance Day post tomorrow.   (I will also bug Anthony to post about Aidan and Daddy’s Big Adventure today.)

Bad, Bad Grandaughter

I have quite a large family with a great number of birthdays. I say this only in my defence. Not that there is much of a defence for forgetting you grandmother’s 80th birthday. I forgot my grandmother’s 80th birthday.

I can only hope that the loveliness that is Aidan’s drawing will help.  (I am not sure that the email I sent did the trick.)

Sometimes He Breaks My Heart

I love my son so much even when he does something that he knows he is not supposed to. I know that is a given with most parents, but I thought it might need to be said, at least for myself.

One rule he knows and continues to push is the “We only draw on paper.” (Thank god for washable crayons.) Aidan loves to draw and sometimes he will not wait until we get the paper out for him and he draws on whatever takes his fancy. The TV for example. (Yes we are very happy that we do not have an LCD TV right at the moment.) I did get it all off the TV screen but there still is a bit on the side speaker. This leads me to today.

Now most of the time Aidan will decide to draw and he brings the paper and whatever drawing accessory he want to the coffee table and his little chair. Today was no exception. Aidan told me he was going to use the Alphabet (stencil) and draw on the paper. And he did.

I was trying to put the cover back on the sofa and it was taking too long in this little boy’s estimation. I actually agree that it was taking too long but I had just washed it so it needed to stretch a bit and be smoothed over the couch. I was moving the fabric over the arm and Aidan came by with an open purple marker and drew a half circle on the side of the arm. I looked at him said “No,” very sharply “I just washed it! You know we don’t draw on anything but paper.” Aidan burst into tears and threw himself in my arms. After about 5 minutes of full out crying he says very tearfully “Not bad anymore. Not bad anymore.” This shot me right through the heart because he was so upset. I told him that I wasn’t angry, we just needed to remember that we only draw on paper. He then said, while still crying “Mommy not angry anymore.”

It is so hard to discipline Aidan when he is so volatile and gets upset when you tell him no. I am just so glad that for the most part he is a very well behaved boy. I don’t think my heart could take the strain of breaking so many time a day as I tell him not to do something and he cries like his heart is broken.

New Boots

I just got Aidan his first pair of winter boots ever. I guess that I am really a vancouverite now. I know that it doesn’t really get cold enough for winter boots, but Aidan was born here and his rubber boots are getting too small. He even picked them out. Well he chose the colour. No blue boots for Aidan he liked the green.

I am not planning to buy him a new coat yet. I think that his jacket still fits pretty well. The nice and economical plan is to get Aidan a winter coat (snow suit) at the end of the season when everything is going on sale in a 4 so he can wear it next year.

Now we just need to get up into the mountains so he gets to see some snow.
