Aidan is if finally sleeping after IV antibiotics, fluids and some pain meds. Now we just need a bed upstairs. Happy to be doing something. #
Aidan's decision to have donations to the children's hospital instead of gifts at his birthday party next week was a good idea I guess. #
Aidan is going in for a small operation to drain the hand in a little while. Things go fast when the (rest of) symptoms come all at once. #
Thanks everyone. Aidan is in surgery now to get the infection drained. The surgeons were concerned enough not to let it wait till tomorrow. #
He was a little scared but all the doctors and nurses have been very reassuring. I am looking forward to a decrease in is pain. #
We will know better after surgery, but it looks like it is a deep infection near the muscle between his thumb and index finger as well a #
Skin infection. So the surgery is to drain fluid and infection from his hand so it doesn't do any further damage. #sickboy #

So to update : Aidan is out of surgery & is asleep in his room. He had a deep infection in the base of his thumb & it was causing the pain. #
It is the first time in days that his face and body have been free and relaxed. It is a joy to see. #

Another restless night. I forgot how often vitals are checked after surgery. A is doing well enough to be bored & is now listening to HP. #

For those not following @AnthonyFloyd a quick Aidan update: as well as the hand infection he also has a blood infection. #
A blood infection means at least another week of IV antibiotics and hospital stay but probably longer. For now he is much more comfortable. #
When I get a little more organized I will put the Facebook updates on the blog and flesh out what is going on. #
Right now the best thing one can do is send good thoughts out. We appreciate all the support & will let you know if there is anything else. #
Though, if anyone knows of a good massage therapist, I may need one at the end of this. #
