I saw a tweet from my mother this morning that really resonated with me. I think that it is something that resonates with every writer, whether they admit it or not.
Trying to write this morning & beset with doubts & angst. Who am I to think that I have a story? Ahhhhhh!!!!
@NanaLorraine
There are so many times when these thoughts plague me. Why do I think that I should be writing? Why do I think that maybe I should start to be be paid for my writing? Do I really think that I have some children’s stories that should be published? Should I really try to get some articles in magazines?
I think my answer to these questions and doubts is simple, everyone has a story to tell. Not everyone will be published, but everyone has a story. My answer to my mom’s tweet? Her grandsons want to hear her stories. Her children want to hear her stories. A story written just for them? Her grandsons will be thrilled and will cherish them.
Are you a writer plagued with doubts sometimes? What do you do to get over them?
I agree everyone has a story to tell. And anyone who wants to write should. I don’t think that necessarily translates into that everyone should be published, but I think a lot of people who are published shouldn’t be and there are many who haven’t been but should. I should probably run the world of publishing.
